Topic: The Role of Music in Regulating Emotions in Musical Theatre

The target audience of my presentation: Arts educators, curriculum leaders, administrators, and policy holders that design interdisciplinary elective subjects.

Some places I could share my work to reach a wider community:

Open house/course options assembly: To welcome new students, we usually hold an open house in the Fall semester to showcase the different departments and extra-curriculars we have. We provide a handout to caregivers with the course options so that they have a quick reference guide. Sharing my workshop presentation in a summarized format could let incoming students know about our musical theatre opportunities and allow them the chance to ask any questions they may have.

Blog: Since there will be additional information that I might not get the chance to present at an open house or assembly, a sharable link could be made so that prospective students and their caregivers can gain more insight on the benefits to enrolling in Musical Theatre. The website can include a contact page in case they have follow-up questions.

Arts Emails from the District: I could send my presentation to my school district to see if it could be included in the biweekly e-newsletters we receive with Arts-specific opportunities and news. These emails go out to all Arts staff within our board and would help with outreach beyond just our school or neighbouring schools.

Podcast: Another method could be to share the information in a podcast format. Similar to the website, a podcast can be accessed at any time of the day from any place, offering quick access to information. Another consideration for the podcast would be to make specific episodes for teachers, administrators, students, and caregivers, as not all information might pertain to all parties. If the purpose of the podcast is to make readily, accessible information, it would be important to consider the length of the podcast and the intended audience for each episode.
